Protein vs. Fat Ratio on Carnivore: Why It's Not About the Macros

The ratio is where most carnivore attempts quietly die. A man says he is eating meat, but the plate is all lean protein. Then he is cold, flat, irritable, and hungry by 8 p.m. That is not carnivore failing. That is bad fueling.

Lean Meat Is Not a System

Chicken breast and dry steak can work for a short cut. They do not build a durable day for a man training, working, and trying to keep his nervous system steady. Fat is not decoration on this plan. Fat is the fuel that makes the whole thing hold.

The Practical Plate

I do not care if the ratio is mathematically perfect. I care if the man can train, think, sleep, and repeat it tomorrow. Start with meat that already has fat attached. Add salt. Eat slowly enough to notice when the body says enough.

If you need a rule: choose cuts you would not describe as “lean.” If you are always reaching for coffee after meals, the plate probably did not carry you.

Why This Matters for Men Over 35

At this age, bad fueling shows up fast. Joints talk. Sleep talks. Patience disappears. The goal is not to win an internet diet argument. The goal is to build a boring food structure that keeps the body out of panic.

That means enough animal food, enough fat, enough salt, and fewer decisions. Simple is only useful if it is strong enough to live on.
